Seven Indonesian Hostages in Philippines are Safe: Foreign Ministry

medcom.id, Jakarta: The Indonesian government is closely monitoring deadly clashes between ISIS-linked militants and Philippine soldiers in Marawi City.
 
The ISIS-linked militants entered Marawi City on Tuesday. They took over the southern Mindanao city quickly.
 
The Philippine government has declared martial law in Mindanao Island. It has tightened security in the embattled island.

"Marawi is not one of the large concentrations of Indonesian nationals," the Indonesian Foreign Ministry's Indonesian citizen protection director Lalu Muhammad Iqbal in Jakarta on Wednesday.
 
The ISIS-linked militants currently hold seven Indonesian hostages. The militants reportedly hide the hostages in the southern Philippines.
 
"The seven Indonesian hostages are safe," Iqbal stated.
