Indonesia Praises Reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas

medcom.id, Jakarta: Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on Friday welcomed a reconciliation agreement between Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas.
 
"We highly appreciate a political reconciliation between the palestinian factions. We always encourage a political reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas," she said at Pancasila Building on Friday morning.
 
"The reconciliation will open many opportunities. The deal will boost Palestinian independence efforts," she added.

The agreement was brokered by the Egyptian government in Cairo. The deal was signed in the Egyptian capital on Thursday afternoon.
 
The agreement will be the key step to end a decade-long rift between the Palestinian factions. The deal will see Hamas hand over administrative control of the Gaza Strip, including the Rafah border crossing to a Fatah-backed government.
