medcom.id, Jakarta: The Dutch government will return around 1,500 Indonesian artifacts in the near future.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte conducted a bilateral meeting with President Joko Widodo this afternoon. Rutte submitted a kris dagger after the bilateral meeting.
"It is from our collection in Delft," said Rutte at the Freedom Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (11/23).
Rutte also discussed the plan when he had a meeting with Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo in Semarang on Tuesday (11/22).
Ganjar asked for duplicate artifacts from the Netherlands. Therefore, Indonesian people can learn about their history.
Stronger bilateral relations
Rutte and Jokowi discussed a wide range of issues during the bilateral meeting. They agreed stronger bilateral relations between the two countries.
"We discussed economic cooperation especially trade, investment, water management and maritime infrastructure cooperation," said Jokowi.
"In addition, we discussed counterterrorism cooperation," he continued.
Furthermore, the two leaders also signed memorandum of understandings on diplomatic, economic, agricultural, environmental and maritime cooperation.
