medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo confirmed ten Indonesian hostages have been released by Abu Sayyaf militant group in the southen Philippines. The Indonesian sailors are on the way to Indonesia.
"Finally 10 Indonesian sailors taken hostage on March 26 now have been released," said Jokowi at Istana Bogor, West Java, Sunday (5/1/2016).
Jokowi congratulated all people involved in the hostage release effort. He also conveyed his gratitude to the Philippine government.
"We are still working hard to free the other four hostages," he continued, referring to four Indonesian sailors taken hostage in the Philippine waters last month.
Jokowi explained Indonesia will hold meeting with Malaysia and the Philippines on May 5. The three countries will discuss security situation in the southern Philippines.
"The sailors will fly from Zamboanga to Jakarta, they will arrive at midnight," Jokowi concluded.
