medcom.id, Jakarta: The IORA Leaders Summit has adopted the Jakarta Concord, the IORA Action Plan and the Declaration on Preventing and Countering Terrorism and Violent Extremism.
The summit was held in the Indonesian capital on Tuesday.
It was preceded by a ministerial level meeting on Monday and a senior level meeting on Sunday.
"The summit has adopted the Jakarta Concord," Indonesian President Joko Widodo said.
"We will enhance maritime safety and security, trade and investment cooperation, sustainable and responsible fisheries development, disaster risk management, academic, science and technology cooperation as well as tourism and cultural exchanges" he continued.
"We will also enhance blue economy, women empowerment as well as democracy, good governance and human rights," he added.
The summit was attended by 21 IORA member countries, seven IORA dialogue partners and eight international organizations.
The IORA member countries are Indonesia, Australia, Bangladesh, Comoros, India, Iran, Kenya, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, Seychelles, Singapore, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
"I appreciate the Indonesian president and the Indonesian public," South African President Jacob Zuma said.
