medcom.id, Jakarta: House of Representatives deputy speaker Agus Hermanto urged the Philippine government to strengthen its maritime security following the latest abduction of Indonesian sailors.
Two Indonesian vessels, Charles 001 tugboat and Robby 152 barge, were attacked in Sulu waters on Thursday, June 23. Seven Indonesian crew curently are held hostage by the hijackers.
"The Philippines must resolve the issue," said Agus at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday (6/24/2016).
This is the third incident in recent months. Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia have agreed to boost security in the region.
"Of course, we need security either in Indonesia or Philippines," he concluded.
