medcom.id, Jakarta: Minister of Foreign Affairs hopes the trilateral maritime security arrangement between Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines can be fully implemented.
Defence ministers from the three countries conducted a meeting in Bali this week. It was a follow up of previous meetings on May 5 and July 14. The main issue in the meetings is maritime security in the Sulu-Sulawesi Seas.
"The meeting produced six outcomes," said Retno at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (8/3).
The six outcomes are joint patrol, emergency response, crisis hotline, intelligence sharing, joint exercise and automatic identification system.
"This cooperation is very important to prevent kidnapping in the future," Retno continued.
Meanwhile, Retno reiterated that the government is committed to rescue 10 Indonesian sailors currently taken hostage by Philippine militants in the southern Philippines.
"However, the situation is very fluid," she stated.
