medcom.id, Amman: Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi officially inaugurated Indonesia's honorary consul to Palestine Maha Abou Shushes. The inauguration was held in Amman, Jordan.
The inauguration ceremony initially was planned to be held in Ramallah, Palestine. However, the Israeli government without any reason rejected access to Ramallah at the eleventh hour. The ceremony then moved to Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan on Sunday (3/13).
"The last-minute rejection from Israel will not affect anything," underlined Retno at Indonesian Embassy in Amman, Jordan, Sunday (3/13/2016).
"It will not affect strong support from Indonesia to Palestine and it will not affect the Palestinian struggle to achieve its independence," she added.
"Once again, I congratulate Consul Shushes as the first Indonesia's honorary consul to Palestine. I hope relations between the two countries could be stronger," she concluded.
The ceremony was also attended by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki and ambassadors from OIC and ASEAN countries in Amman.
