medcom.id, Jakarta: International NGO Forum on Indonesian Development (INFID) condemned the Malaysian Government after arrest and deportation of its human rights and democracy senior program officer Mugiyanto.
Executive director of INFID, Sugeng Bahagijo, urged Indonesian government to send diplomatic note for the incident.
"The Malaysian Government's action clearly violated ASEAN commitment to develop human rights in ASEAN," he said in his press release, Thursday (1/7/2016).
Sugeng explained Mugiyanto traveled to Malaysiia to attend forum held by BERSIH 2.0, a coalition for free and clean election in Malaysia.
Mugiyanto was scheduled to talk about democracy in Indonesia in the forum titled "People's Movement Can Bring Change".
He was arrested by officials on Thursday when he landed in Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The activist then immediately deported by authority. He have arrived in Jakarta in the same day.
