medcom.id, Jakarta: The Indonesian government has responded to appeals from other countries regarding executions of drug convicts which will be held this week.

"Death penalty doesn't violate international laws. Death penalty is still part of our legal system," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir at his office, Jakarta, Thursday (7/28/2016).

"Indonesia always respect the laws in other countries. We hope other countries also respect our laws," he continued.

Arrmanatha underlined that the Indonesian government will online execute drug convicts who have exhausted all legal avenues. Furthermore, death penalty is only applied to drug producers and drug traffickers.

"Meanwhile, for drug users, we help their rehabilitation," he stated.
