ASEAN-UN Partnership Will Boost International Agreements: President

medcom.id, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo hoped partnership  between Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and United Nations (UN) could support peace, stable and prosper ASEAN community and region. President Jokowi stated that during 7th ASEAN-UN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Sunday (11/22/2015).
 
President jokowi underlined three priorities in ASEAN-UN Cooperation. The first priority is the implementation of 2016-2020 ASEAN-UN work plan.
 
"ASEAN and UN need to be active in four sectors namely small and Medium Enterprises, maritime, food security and illegal migration," said President Jokowi in press release received by Metrotvnews.com (11/22/2015).

The second priority is eradication of extremism. There are also health problem threat like in Malaysia and Indonesia.
 
"ASEAN and UN must able to answer non-traditional challenges like terrorism and global pandemics like Ebola and MERS," he said.
 
Besides that, Jokowi also mentioned priority on facing global humanitarian problem. Conflicts in several regions have caused humanitarian tragedy.
 
"UN and all stake holders including ASEAN must give active contribution to prevent the case repeats," he said.
 
Moreover, President Jokowi there will be many international agreements like Doha Development Agenda, Post-Kyoto Protocol on Greenhouse Gas Emissions, nuclear weapon eradication and global financial reform that is not fulfilled yet. President said he is optimistic ASEAN-UN partnership could boost the finalization of those issues.
