medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Chinese Embassy official over violation in Natuna waters.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi met with Chinese Embassy Charge D'affaires Sun Wedie.
"At the meeting, I conveyed protest and diplomatic note regarding violation conducted by China on Saturday, March 19," said Retno at his office, Jakarta, Monday (3/21/2016).
"I also asked clarification from the Chinese government regarding violation conducted by Chinese Coast Guard in Natuna," he added.
Retno also mentioned to the Chinese government to respect international law. "I underlined that Indonesia is not claimant state in the South China Sea issue," she stated.
Previously, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries patrol vessel KP Hiu 11 interrcepted and captured Chinese fishing vessel Kway Fey inside Indonesia's exclusive economic zone in Natuna waters on Saturday, March 19.
On the next day, Chinese Coast Guard vessel suddenly approached and hit the Chinese fishing vessel. Indonesian patrol vessel then decided to leave to avoid any incident.
