Indonesia Shares Reconciliation Experience with Colombia

medcom.id, Manila: Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) shares his experience in the peace reconciliation process of Aceh, along with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos Calderon.
 
It was conducted by JK when conducting a bilateral meeting with President Calderon in between the APEC Summit, Wednesday (11/18) in Manila, the Philippines. JK underlined the importance of mutual respect and looking ahead within the peace and reconciliation process, as well as the support of all public components and stakeholders in continuing the process.
 
As requested by the Colombian President, Vice President JK shared Indonesia's experience during the process of peace and reconciliation. The reason was due to the Colombian government's efforts in the negotiation process to seek peace with the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia), which has been fighting against the government for more than 50 years.
 
"As a follow up of the meeting, Indonesia welcomes the plan of Colombian Presidential Agency of International Cooperation (APC) delegation to Indonesia in December 2015, to conduct deeper consultations," as stated by the Foreign Ministry in a written press release received by Metrotvnews.com, Wednesday (11/18/2015).

Aside from sharing the experience on the peace and reconciliation process, both leaders also discussed the efforts in enhancing the economic cooperation, especially in the field of trade and investments. As related to that, Vice President urged Colombia to extend a larger market access for Indonesian export products, such as automotive spare parts, shoes and sandals, electronic, textile threads, as well as palm oil.
 
Within the investment field, JK welcomes the investment plan of Colombia in Indonesia's health sector, in the form of hospital management, capacity enlargement and the establishment of disaster victims hospital cooperation with PMI Hospital in Bogor.
 
The trade value of Indonesia and Colombia's bilateral trade in 2014 had reached US$154.37 million, with a surplus for Indonesia at US$140 million. The number of Colombian tourists coming to Indonesia in 2013 had reached 2,316 people, with Indonesians living in Colombia as many as 100 people.
