Indonesian Navy last week shot and seized Chinese fishing vessel in the region. China openly lamented the incident. The country believes the vessel caught fish in its traditional fishing ground.
"President will visit Natuna tomorrow," said Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung at Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/22/2016).
According to Pramono, Jokowi wants to show that Natuna is Indonesia's territory. "Natuna is part of Indonesia. That is final," he continued.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister of Politics, Law and Security Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan refused to give detailed information about the visit. He only mentioned that Jokowi will hold press statement in the location.

Last week's incident is the third between Indonesian authorities and Chinese fishing vessels. China claims almost whole of the South China Sea based on historical accounts.
In the other hand, Indonesia is not a claimant state. Nevertheless, Indonesia's sovereignty in Natuna is supported by international law.
