medcom.id, Jakarta: The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) released a document showing the involvement of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak in an alleged corruption case. According to Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, the evidence is doubtful.
"There are lots of doubts. This is not a solid evidence," said the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Dato Zahrain Mohamed Hashim, at the Malaysian Embassy Office in Jakarta, Wednesday (7/8/2015).
"There were lots of accusations that the document has been modified. You cannot use the document to prosecute someone," he continued.
Ambassador Zahrain added there are opinions saying that the media is acting as prosecutors. The ambassador stated repeatedly that based on the legal laws in Malaysia, a person is considered innocent before a legal verdict is published.
"All allegations are incorrect. There is a connection between the subordinate (of former PM) Mahathir Mohamad with Sarawak Report (which provided the document of PM Najib's corruption)," he said.
PM Najib has been reportedly receiving USD700 million, or around Rp9.3 trillion. The fund went into Najib's personal account from 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
Mahathir was also allegedly involved in the report published by WSJ last week. The respected figure in Malaysia is accused to be behind the false accusations published by the newspaper.
Najib thinks that Mahathir's action was conducted on purpose. It is seen from the statement released by Najib in his Facebook account on July 4, 2015.
Mahathir was considered of publicizing lies, that Najib received the funds from 1MDB for personal interest. On the allegations, Najib mentioned it as a political sabotage. (Eps)
