Indonesia Opens Marine Plastic Debris Summit

medcom.id, Jakarta: The Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs opened the Indonesia Marine Plastic Debris Summit in Jakarta on Wednesday (11/2).
 
The ministry's maritime sovereignty deputy Arif Havas Oegroseno stated that plastic debris in the ocean is a global problem.
 
"It is not only a regional problem. It is a global problem," said Arif during the opening ceremony.

"We need to find the best solution," he continued.
 
He mentioned that Indonesia is committed to address the issue. Indonesia cooperates with other countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, India, Thailand, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.
 
"International organizations like APEC, EAS and IORA also address the issue" he concluded.
