Jakarta: Minister of Research and Technology Bambang P. S. Brodjonegoro assigned the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) the task to coordinate the creation of the national artificial intelligence strategy.
"I have urged the BPPT to lead (coordinate the making) of a national artificial intelligence strategy, as we do not have a national artificial intelligence strategy, and we will complete it soon this year," Brodjonegoro stated at the 2020 Work Meeting "Strengthening Competitiveness through Innovation, Digital Transformation and HR Quality" at the BPPT Building, Jakarta, Monday, February 24, 2020.
Brodjonegoro highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence, especially for public services.

"We must be able to convince the public that technology, such as artificial intelligence, will offer direct benefits to the community in the form of services whether in the fields of health, education, and others," the former national development planning minister explained,
Brodjonegoro remarked that to support the development of artificial intelligence, big data should be developed through data science and data analysis. Furthermore, artificial intelligence and the Internet of things must be utilized for the development of the industrial world.
The minister emphasized the need to boost competitiveness of Indonesia's industry in future, so that it is not only an assembler but also emerges as a designer or creator.
"To be able to become designers and creators, we must master what is called the fourth industrial revolution for the manufacturing sector," the minister explained. (Antara)
