Seoul: The ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) is set to participate in one of the largest global startup fairs held in Korea, "NextRise 2021, Seoul" on June 28-29.
At the fair, AKC will promote prominent startups in ASEAN and share information on Southeast Asia’s startup eco-system and policies through a conference, exhibition, and 1:1 business meetings.
Over 20 ASEAN startups participating in this year’s NextRise have all been recommended by their respective governments, as promising home-grown startups across major industry verticals including artificial intelligence, e-commerce, fintech, agricultural machinery service platform, and logistics & transport platform.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, company promotion and business meetings will be conducted in a contactless manner.
At the upcoming conference, Secretary General of the ASEAN-Korea Centre Kim Hae-yong will highlight the ASEAN region’s significance of the ASEAN region as the birthplace of 12 global unicorn startups, and emphasize the potential of ASEAN-Korea partnership in this area as the new driver of future economic cooperation.
From the ASEAN Secretariat, Penchan Manawanichkul, Head of the Enterprise & Stakeholders Engagement Division will talk about the startup eco-system and policies in ASEAN Member States, as well as on ways to foster a vibrant partnership and balanced ecosystem of ASEAN and Korean startups.
Meanwhile, the ASEAN-Korea Centre will host the annual ‘ASEAN-Korea Startup Week’ in late November.
The program was launched in 2018 to nurture startups in the ASEAN region and build a foundation of cooperation between ASEAN and Korea in this area.
This year, ASEAN startups at seed and series A funding stage will be invited to take part in the program for IR pitching and business meeting opportunities with venture capitalists and investors.
