Jakarta: The Bayucaraka Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) team  won the Fixed Wing category at the 2019 Tübitak International Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Competition in Istanbul, Turkey last week. They received trophies and prizes directly from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In addition to winning the first prize, the aircraft robot made by Team Bayucaraka ITS also successfully won the best design in an international competition which was participated by more than 40 teams from 30 different countries in the world.

On Sunday, President Erdogan handed over trophies and symbolic prizes worth 30 thousand Turkish Lira directly to the ITS Bayucaraka Team.

Aside from ITS, the Indonesian teams participating in the competition also came from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

All teams in the Fixed Wing category must complete two missions in this race. First, their unmanned aircraft must maneuver to form figure-eight when flying. In this mission, the ITS Bayucaraka Team managed to get the fastest time autonomously. For the second mission, each aircraft is challenged to drop an item to a predetermined area.

The Bayucaraka ITS team has previously taken part in the competition in 2018 during which, they only managed to get fifth place. What they achieved this time is the result of many evaluations and their maximum efforts both before and during the race.
