medcom.id, Jakarta: Maneuver from Go-Jek against its competitors backfired badly. In a video, Go-Jek CEO Nadiem Makarim urged GrabBike and UberMotor's drivers to prove their nationalism by moving to his company.

Go-Jek is local online-based motorcycle taxi service brand while GrabBike and UberMotor are foreign brands.

The video quickly sparked furor in social media. Indonesian stand-up comedian, Ernest Prakasa, condemned the move through his official twitter account. "Tasteless. I only use Grab-Uber from now," he tweeted.

Some twitter accounts mentioned that Go-Jek employs programmers from India. "Go-Jek owner is really something. Bringing nationalism while most of his programmers are Indians," one tweet said.

Go-Jek mostly funded by Singaporean and American venture capitals. The online-based motorcycle taxi service reportedly is going to concentrate its research and development division in India.

Go-Jek has acquired two Indian start-ups. It will also recruit more than 100 Indian programmers.
