medcom.id, Jakarta: Law enforcement agencies should tackle fake news syndicates that spread provocative contents, presidential spokesperson Johan Budi Sapto Prabowo said on Thursday.

The National Police recently announced the arrests of the three members of the Saracen syndicate. The fake news syndicate reportedly profited by taking payments for spreading provocative contents over the internet.

"They of course violated the Electronic Transactions and Information (ITE) Law," Johan said.

"They also harmed the national unity," he added.

Officials have identified the three suspects with the initials JAS, MFT nd SRN. They have seized pieces of evidence, including 58 sim cards, four memory cards, six flashdisks, six harddisks, seven mobile phones and two laptops.
