medcom.id, Jakarta: The Communication and Information Ministry has officially banned the messaging application Telegram Messenger.
The ban was started at 11.00 AM Western Indonesia Time on Friday, July 14, 2014.
"Telegram is often used by terror cells," the Communication and Information Ministry spokesperson Noor Izza said.
The messaging application is often used to send secret messages. It is frequently used to spread radical propaganda
The ministry will monitor other messaging applications. It will monitor any terrorism-related communication.
