medcom.id, Jakarta: The Ministry of Communication and Information revoked its decision to ban Tumblr. However, the ministry will ask the social media company to implement self-censorship.
"Tumblr will be asked to implement self-censorship for several sub-domains," said The Ministry's spokesperson Ismail Cawidu to Metrotvnews.com, Thursday (2/18/2016).
"Self censorship for sub domains in Tumblr that have negative contents," he added.
The ministry previously planned to block Tumblr due to pornographic contents. The decision immediately triggered furor in social media. Tumblr became trending topic in twitter. Online Petition was also launched to protest the policy.
Tumblr is micro-blogging and social network platform founded by David Karp in 2007. The company was bought by Yahoo in 2013. The website has 555 thousand visitors last month.
