GrabCar to Receive Permit from Jakarta Gov't after Establishing Cooperative

medcom.id, Jakarta: Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara mentioned cooperative for GrabCar drivers have been officially established.
 
Minister of Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises AAGN Puspayoga has issued the deed of establishment of Indonesian Rental Business Owner Association Service Cooperative (PPRI) on Wednesday (3/16). Rudiantara explained all GrabCar drivers will join with the cooperative. 
 
"Now it only needs to be submitted to Jakarta's one stop integrated service  so that the permit to organize rental business in Jakarta region could be acquired," stated Rudiantra
 
The minister said he has asked for help from Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama regarding the permit issue. He wishes the permit could be acquired this week.
 
Rudiantara explained another online-based taxi service, Uber, should also follow this mechanism. "Others should follow this model," he affirmed.
 
Thousands of public transportation drivers held demonstration in Jakarta on Monday (3/14). They qestioned the legality of online-based taxi service like GrabCar and Uber. The government then decided GrabCar and Uber should establish cooperative as a form of legality for their drivers.
