medcom.id, Jakarta: Taxies, an online-based taxi service is officially launched in Yogyakarta. The application is the latest breakthrough from taxi operators in the city.

Chairman of Yogyakarta's Land Transportation Organization Agus Andriyanto explained that Taxies will help consumers ordering taxis through their mobile phones.

"Now it is the internet era. Taxi companies should switch to internet to reach costumers," said Agus to Metrotvnews.com in Yogyakarta, Monday (4/25/2016).

Four taxi operators in Yogyakarta have joined for the application: Pandawa, Sadewo, Indra Kelana and Setia Kawan. "There are 260 armada from four taxi operators in Yogyakarta," Agus continued.

Different than other online-based taxi services, Taxies is not owned by start-up company but it is a collaboration of taxi operators in Yogyakarta. "Eventually, all taxi operators in Yogyakarta will join taxies," he concluded.

Taxies could be downloaded for free in Google Playstore. It has been available in Android. It will available in iOs in May.
