medcom.id, Jakarta: Baidu mentioned that foreign applications are more favorable to Indonesian consumers. It is based on the research related to the mobile applications conducted by Baidu and GFK in Indonesia's major cities.
"Almost in every category researched, most of the popular apps are made by foreign developers. Some respondent assessed that foreign apps' UI and UX are more interesting compared to local apps," said the Head of Marketing Baidu Indonesia, Iwan Setiawan, Jakarta, Thursday (4/8/2016).
Iwan mentioned that Indonesia has lots of developers, but he observes many obstacles for them in creating high quality app. Iwan said the capabilities of local developers in coding is not to be underestimated, but they are weak in terms of user interface and the user experience sectors.
Most respondents in the research announced by Baidu mentioned that the user interface is one of the main factors. User experience is also said to be equally important compared to the display.
Aside from that, Iwan also sees local developers to be lacking in market coverage. Most local application developers are stronger in technical field and not paying attention to the promotion and marketing.
