medcom.id, Karawang: A floating solar power plant is operated in Curug lake, Karawang, West Java. It is the first floating solar power plant in Indonesia.
It is made by PT Sinar Eco Technology Indonesia (SETI) & POWERMAX Group, in cooperation with PT Indorama Synthetics.
"It is the first in Indonesia. We feel proud to get the opportunity," mentioned the Director of SETI, Eniyati, during the hand over ceremony in Karawang, Thursday (1/7/2016).
The system has several benefits. First, it doesn't require land acquisition. Second, it has natural cooling mechanism. Third, it also reduces water evaporation.
"It also supports government's 35,000 MW program," she added.
