medcom.id: Twitter usually launched a special emoji to welcome a specific moment such as Ramadhan and Indonesian Independence Day. But prior to the regional elections (Pilkada 2015) to be held on December 9, Twitter again published a special emoji.
The special emoji for Pilkada 2015 is a hand with a red tail finger, a sign acquired by those participating in the election. To use the special emoji for the election, you only need to use the hashtag of #Pilkada2015.
"Twitter is one of the platforms used by the public to communicate related to the current and ongoing issue or event," mentioned Teguh Wicaksono, Partnerships Manager of Twitter Indonesia. "We hope the special hashtag and emoji we have released will boost the people to join the upcoming regional elections."
The production of the special hashtag and emoji is a form of Twitter Indonesia's support toward this year's regional elections. They hope the initiative will urge the public in providing positive reactions to the election. Aside from making the hashtag and emoji, Twitter would also like to provide the latest information and interesting facts about Pilkada 2015. Therefore, Twitter is cooperating with the social organization named 'Kawal Pilkada' and Indonesian National Radio (Radio Republik Indonesia/RRI).
"Through our site, we urge the Indonesian public to know more about the candidates before they cast their votes. We are proud to work together with Twitter Indonesia, which has the same vision as us," mentioned Khairul Anshar, the initiator of Kawal Pilkada. "We also urge the public to continue in actively participating in the discussions on Pilkada, with the hashtag #Pilkada2015."
