Indonesian Digital Forensic Association Officially Established

medcom.id Jakarta: Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara, along with the Head of Criminal Investigation of the National Police, Commissioner General Dr. Anang Iskandar opened the kick off on the establishment of the Indonesian Digital Forensics Association (AFDI) on the Multipurpose Hall of the Ministry in Jakarta, Tuesday (11/17/2015).
 
"The association is hoped to become a vessel for the gathering of experts and talents in the field of digital forensic, to handle the emerging cyber crime in Indonesia," explained Rudiantara.

According to Rudiantara, Information Technology in Indonesia is developing rapidly, as it is necessary to be balanced by the digital forensics ability. The ministry supports the formation of AFDI, as remembering the limited number of digital forensics expert personnel, while the cyber crime in Indonesia is plenty.
 
"So it is necessary for us to develop and enhance digital forensics to reveal the cyber crime actions in Indonesia," explained Rudiantara. 
 
The Indonesian police recently arrested 113 foreigners from Taiwan and China related to the cyber crime. According to the Criminal Investigation Head, Comm.Gen. Anang Iskandar, cyber cases have involved many foreigners and caused huge material loss, as throughout Europe, the loss related to this cyber crime had reached 24 trillion.
 
"Cyber crime itself is similar to the iceberg phenomenon, which is in need to be attended seriously. An association is needed to support the cyber crime investigation," he mentioned.

The Directorate General of Informatics Application, Bambang Heru Tjahjono stated that Indonesia has the Law No. 11 Year 2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE), which regulates the prohibited actions and the penalties.
 
“ITE Law regulates the digital evidence, where it is considered legal and may be brought to trial, as long as the information in it is accessible, presentable, guaranteed on its wholeness and able to be taken into responsibility," he explained.
 
Moreover, the Head of Sub-Directorate of Forensic Computer of the Forensic Laboratory Center on the National Police Headquarters, M. Nuh Al-Azhar explained that the formation of AFDI intended to gather and coordinate the analysts and digital forensics enthusiasts in a vessel to educate and socialize the issue of digital forensics to the public.
