medcom.id, Jakarta: Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin visited Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara in Jakarta, Monday (12/28/2015). One of the discussion in the meeting was about Project Loon.
Brin revealed a lot of high-altitude balloons will be flown in Indonesia to provide internet connection in rural and remote areas.
According to data from Ministry of Communication and Information, internet users in Indonesia has reached 73 million person. The number will increase in line with internet development in the country.
It shows that internet connection is important for Indonesian people. Through Project Loon, google wants to help bringing internet to remote areas not only in land but also in Indonesian waters.
To realize the project, the silllicon valley company, make cooperation with big communication companies in Indonesia namely Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo and XL.
"Project Loon is still in frequency allocation stage. The program will be started next year," Brin said.
