medcom.id, Jakarta: The government stated all 514 regencies and cities in Indonesia will be covered by fiber optic network in 2019.
The statement was given by Minister of Communication and Information Rudiantara during meeting with the House of Representatives on Monday, April 18. "The government will coordinate with telecommunication operators especially Telkom to build broadbrand infrastructures," said Rudiantara.
Rudiantara explained many regions are still lacking of telecommunication infrastructure. The government will help to build the network.
"For example, Natuna Islands which is strategic region politically but not economically. Operators do not want to build infrastructure there," he continued.
Furthermore, the development of fiber optic network in Papua will be carried out simultaneously with the development of roadway. Rudiantara predicted it will be completed in 2018.
