Jakarta: A 6.9 magnitude earthquake shook Banggai Islands regency in Central Sulawesi province at 18.40 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Friday, April 12, 2019.
"The earthquake triggered tsunami warnings," the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said on its official twitter account this evening.
With a depth of around 10 kilometers below the surface, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 85 kilometers southwest of Banggai Islands regency.
