Jakarta: The Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) Anti-Terror arrested nine suspected terrorists during a counterterrrorism operation in Greater Jakarta on Monday, September 23, 2019.
They are members of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) Bekasi. The group is affiliated with JAD Bandung.
"Densus 88 arrested nine suspected terrorists," said National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta this afternoon.
Densus 88 first arrested SN in Tambun, Bekasi at 05.35 Western Indonesia Time (WIB). They then arrested AZ in Tambun Selatan, Bekasi almost at the same time.
"The third suspect is H. He was arrested at 06.05 WIB in South Tambun, Bekasi," said Dedi.
According to the spokesman, Densus 88 also arrested IG in South Tambun, Bekasi. Then,Densus 88 arrested AR in Notth Tambun, Bekasi.
Not long after, Densus 88 arrested US in North Bekasi, and MA alias Muri in Semper Barat Village, Cilincing District, North Jakarta. Lastly, Densus 88 arrested IG in West Jakarta.
Dedi explained that the nine suspected terrorists planned to attack members of the police and the police headquarters. Densus 88 is still gathering evidence to get more information.
Densus 88 also seized many explosive devices during the operation. There were also sharp weapons and firearms at the homes of these suspected terrorists.
