Solo: Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), has been officially inaugurated as Mayor of Solo for the 2021-2026 period.
Held at Solo Legislative Council Building on Friday morning, the inauguration ceremony was virtually led by Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo.
In his inaugurual speech as Solo leader, Gibran stated his committment to expedite covid-19 vaccinations and economic recovery programs in the city.
"We will not wait until Monday to accelerate covid-19 vaccinations and economic activities," said the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician.
After the inauguration ceremony, Gibran conducted impromptu visits at several locations in Solo, including Gedhe Market, Legu Market and Palang Joglo.
"Tomorrow morning, we will hold mass vaccination events at Gedhe Market and Klewer Market. Those are economic centers in Solo. Vaccinations cannot be delayed," he stated.
