Jakarta: President Joko widodo (Jokowi) today visited flood-affected areas in Banjarbaru after he landed in South Kalimantan Province.
During the visit, President Jokowi was accompanied by Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Head Doni Monardo, South Kalimantan Governor Sahbirin Noor and Banjar Regent Khalilurrahman.
To prevent the spread of covid-19, the visit complied with health protocols.
Previously, the President ordered BNPB and other related agencies to immediately send aid that is urgently needed for mitigation measures.
In addition to that, the President urged the people to remain vigilant against disasters, especially floods and landslides, for there has been extreme increase in rainfall lately.
During the past two weeks, Indonesia is struggling with a string of disasters, such as landslide in Sumedang (West Java), earthquake in Majene (West Sulawesi), and floods in South Kalimantan.
