Jakarta: Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria has welcomed the West Java provincial government's proposal to create the Greater Jakarta Covid-19 Task Force.
Popularly known as Jabodetabek, the Greater Jakarta Region consists of Jakarta Province, Depok City, Bogor City, Tangerang City, South Tangerang City, Bekasi City, Bogor Regency, Tangerang Regency and Bekasi Regency.
"I think it is a good proposal," said the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party politician here on Friday.
According gto the Jakarta deputy government, the new task force is expected to strenghten synergies between Indonesia's capital and its satellite areas and boost covid-19 mitigation activities in the region.
On Friday, the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force confirmed 4,317 new covid-19 case, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases across Indonesia to 295,499.
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, from Thursday noon to Friday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries in Indonesia was up by 2,853 to 221,340.
Meanwhile, in the same period, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths in the country was up by 116 to 10,972.
