Jakarta: The Government has established the Special Operations Command of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (Koopssus TNI) in a bid to deal with highly escalation threats which endanger the ideology, sovereignty, and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and its people,
"President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on 3 July 2019 has signed Presidential Regulation Number 42 of 2019 on the Second Amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 10 of 2010 on the Organizational Structure of the Indonesian National Defense Forces," the Cabinet Secretariat said in a press statement released on Thursday.
According to the Regulation, the Koopssus TNI is in charge of carrying out special operations and activities that require high speed and success to save national interests at home and abroad.
“The Koopssus TNI is led by the Commander of the Koopssus TNI called Dankoopssus TNI and is directly subordinate and responsible to the Commander of TNI, whereas the performance of daily tasks is coordinated by the Chief of General Staf,” Article 46b paragraph (2) of the Regulation reads.
In addition to that, Article 46b paragraph (3) mentions that the Dankoopssus TNI is assisted by Deputy Commander of the Koopssus TNI called Wadankoopssus TNI.
The appendix of this Regulation stipulates that Dankoopssus TNI should be a two-star general, while Wadankoopssus TNI should be a one-star general.
