Ministry Ready to Assist Covid-19-Hit Islamic Boarding Schools

Jakarta: The Indonesian Religious Affairs Ministry is ready to assist Islamic boarding schools whose students or staff tested positive for covid-19, according to Indonesian Religion Minister Fachrul Razi.
 
"We will immediately give assistance," the minister said in a statement on Wednesday.
 
"If they are hit by covid-19, they should immediately report it," Fachrul stated.

According to the ministry, Islamic Schools and Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia should meet four conditions before calling the students to get back to classroom.
 
The conditions are, among others, schools environment should be safe from covid-19, teachers should be safe from covid-19, students should be safe from covid-19, and strict health protocols must be enforced.
 
Last month, hundreds of students from Darusalam Blokagung Islamic Boarding School in Banyuwangi Regency tested positive for covid-19. The Banyuwangi Covid-19 Task Force decided to put the staff and students into quarantine. They also took swab samples of thousands of Darusalam Blokagung students.
