1.5 Million Health Workers Will be Top Priority for Covid-19 Vaccines: Govt

Jakarta: State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir has said that the Indonesian government will prioritize 1.5 million health workers for vaccination against covid-19.
 
"These 1.5 mililion health workers will be top priority. They will get it first. They are our heroes," the Executive Chairman of the Economic Recovery and Covid-19 Handling Committee said during a virtual press conference here on Thursday.
 
According to the minister, the central government has obtained data from the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) and the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI).

Besides health workers, priority will also be given to as many as 9.3 million poor citizens who have been registered as the participants of Healthcare and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) scheme.
 
"They will be given priority for free vaccination," Erick said.
 
As of Thursday, the Indonesian government has recorded 184,628 confirmed covid-19 cases, 132,055 confirmed covid-19 recoveries and 7,750 confirmed covid-19 deaths.
