Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has decided to reintroduce large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) as the number of covid-19 cases in Indonesia's capital continues to rise.
"We do not have any choice. We need to pull the emergency brake," Anies said during a virtual press conference here on Wednesday.
The Jakarta provincial government previously implemented PSBB for around two months from April to June. The local government then decided to ease the implementation of PSBB in early June.
"We will no longer implement transitional PSBB. We will return to PSBB," he said.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Indonesian Ministry of Health confirmed 3,307 new covid-19 case, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 203,342.
From Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries was up by 2,242 to 145,200. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths was up by 106 to 8,336.
