Japan Guarantees Safety of Rail Construction Workers

Jakarta: Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Masafumi Ishii, has guaranteed that Jakarta-Surabaya medium speed train project will implement safety programs in order to protect workers and prevent incidents.
 
He said that safety is the main aspect in the Japanese working culture.
 
“We will guarantee safety as it has been also guaranteed during the mass rapid transit (MRT) project” said Ishii in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

The minister of transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, stated that the government will attempt to ensure no working accidents occuring during the train construction project.
 
He said that the Japanese are really concerned on workers' safety and health.
 
“Of course, the Japanese are well known for their concern on workers' safety and health,” said Budi.
 
At the same time, the minister of public working and housing, Basuki Hadimuljono, believes that the Japanese investors will always be responsible and monitor the development of the project gradually.
 
“Our cooperation with the Japanese is based on the principle of safety. They will gradually monitor and be responsible,” said Basuki. (Translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
