Jayapura: A magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook the southeastern part of Jayapura, Papua on Friday, October 18, 2019. The earthquake did not trigger tsunami warnings.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake occured at 02.34 AM Western Indonesia Time. There were no immediate reports of casularties or damage.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 138 kilometers southeast of Jayapura. It struck at the depth of 10 kilometers.
