Tangerang: The Transportion Ministry's Air Transportation Directorate General will study the result of the investigation carried out by the National Committee for Transportation Safety (KNKT) into the accident involving Lion Air aircraft at the waters of Tanjung Karawang, West Java.
Air Transportation Director-General, Polana B. Pramesti, said that her team will carry out several corrective measures.
“The first measure is that we will have to make sure that our manual is in accordance with the procedure.” Polana said here on Friday, October
According to Polana, the second measure is that her team will oblige all airlines to provide training to their pilots which will operate Boeing 737 Max 8 series aircraft.
“At the moment, we are waiting for official certificates issued by air flight authorities, such as EASA, Brazil and Canada and later we will check on them as soon as they have been issued. However, we do not know when they will be issued. Moreover, if they have been issued stating that the aircraft from the series are safe to operate, then the pilots will have to operate them through a simulator first.” She said.
She added that her team will urge all airlines operating in Indonesia to implement Safety Management System (SMS). They will be required to carry out training related to SMS. This will ensure that the hazard report from the personnel can be directly accessed by responsible officials. (translator: Muhammad Gestinev)
