Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) virtually led the inauguration ceremony of the Manado-Danowudu toll road on Tuesday afternoon.
Located in North Sulawesi province, it is the first toll road in the province. Part of the Manado-Bitung toll road project, the 26-kilometer toll road is expected to boost economic activities in the region.
"Thank God, the Manado-Danowudu section of the Manado-Bitung toll road project has been completed and can be utilizedto boost business activities and movements of goods and people," Jokowi said at Bogor Palace, Bogor City, West Java Province this afternoon.
According to the president, the total length of the Manado-Bitung toll road is around 40 kilometers. Connecting two major cities in North Sulawesi province, the Manado-Birtung toll road is also located near Sam Ratulangi international airport.
"The toll road will cut logistics costs at Bitung international port," the former Jakarta governor stated.
"It will bolster competitiveness in the region," he added.
