Military Commander, Police Chief Observe Search Operation for Missing Submarine

Jakarta: A spokesperson today announced that National Armed Forces (TNI) Commanders Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and National Police (Polri) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will observe the search operation for the missing KRI Nanggala-402 submarine.
 
"TNI Commander and Polri Chief will visit the location to directly observe the search operation," said TNI spokesperson Major General Achmad Riad during a press conference at Ngurah Rai Air Base in Bali on Friday morning.
 
On Wednesday morning, the Indonesain Navy's Cakra-class submarine went missing during a torpedo drill in the waters north of Bali island.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) have ordered the TNI Commander, Navy Chief, and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) to join hands with other related institutions in doing their utmost to conduct search and rescue operation. 
 
According to the President, the safety of 53 crew on board becomes our priority.
 
"To the families of the crew, I understand about your feeling right now. However, the Government has done and will continue to do its utmost to search and rescue all crew on board.Lastly, I invites the public to pray for the success in search and rescue operation, so that we can find the KRI Nanggala-402 along with the crew unharmed," President Jokowi said in a statement on Wednesday.
