Surabaya: Surabaya Deputy Mayor Whisnu Sakti Buana was appointed as Acting Surabaya Mayor after Tri Rismaharini was picked to lead the Social Affairs Ministry.
"East Java Governor received a letter from the Regional Autonomy Director General Akmal Malik last night," said the East Java Regional Automony and Governance Bureau Head Jempin Marbun said here on Thursday.
"The Home Affairs Ministry instructed the East Java Governor to appoint Surabaya Deputy Mayor as Acting Surabaya Mayor," the official stated.
On Tuesday, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), together with Vice President Ma’ruf Amin announced six new ministers in cabinet reshuffle.
Besides Risma, Former Deputy Governor of Jakarta Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno was given the task of Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy.
Meanwhile, Former President Director of state-owned bank Bank Mandiri and former Deputy Minister of State-owned Enterprises, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, was appointed as the new Minister of Health.
In the meantime, Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama’s (NU) Youth Wing Organization (GP Ansor) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas replaced Fachrul Razi as Minister of Religious Affairs.
Former Deputy Minister of Defense Sakti Wahyu Trenggono was promoted as Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, while former Indonesian Ambassador to the United States, Muhammad Lutfi, was picked to lead the Ministry of Trade.
