Jakarta: President Joko Widodo released the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestine, Saturday 4 November 2023, at the Indonesian Air Force Base, Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta.

“This morning Indonesian aid for the Palestinian people will immediately depart for El Arish Airport in Egypt, then it will be forwarded and distributed to Gaza," said the President, as quoted from Setkab.go.id.

The President said that the first phase of aid delivery, which would be carried using three planes, contained aid weighing 51.5 tons. This assistance consists of food, medical equipment, blankets, tents and other logistical items, which have been adapted to existing needs in Gaza.

"This assistance is not only from the government but also from the community, from the business world, which is channeled through various humanitarian institutions. There are those from Baznas, from IHA, from PMI, from Kitabisa, and also from the government, TNI and Polri.

"In future, we hope that there will be more assistance from the community and the business world," said the President.

The President said that the next stage of aid delivery to Palestine was also in the process of being prepared. The delivery of this aid, he said, was a form of Indonesian solidarity with the Palestinian people and the Indonesian people's concern for humanity.

"This is a form of Indonesian solidarity, a form of Indonesian concern for humanity, because the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza is unacceptable and must be stopped as soon as possible," said the President.

Furthermore, the President emphasized again that Indonesia will continue to be together in the struggle of the Palestinian people.

"Indonesia will continue to join the struggle of the Palestinian people," he said.

Also present at this humanitarian release were, among others, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, National Police Chief General Pol Listyo Sigit Prabowo, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, and Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun.
