Jakarta: The Indonesian government has officially opened Tower 4 at the Kemayoran Athletes Village in Central Jakarta to accommodate asymptomatic covid-19 patients.
"Tower 4, which is adjacent to Tower 5, has a capacity of 1,546 beds," the National Covid-19 Task Force said in a press release on Monday.
"Tower 4 and Tower 5 can accommodate a total of 3,116 asymptomatic covid-19 patients," the National Covid-19 Task Force stated.
Officially opened in March, towers 6 and 7 are used to treat covid-19 patients with mild to moderate cases, while Tower 4 and 5 are used as isolation venues for asymptomatic covid-19 patients.
Based on data from the covid-19 emergency hospital, as many as 2,355 patients are currently being treated at Tower 7 and Tower 6, while 1,669 asymptomatic patients are undergoing isolation at Tower 5.
The Indonesian government is currently focusing on flattening the covid-19 infection curve in nine provinces with the highest transmission rates, namely Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Papua, and Bali.
