Jakarta: Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has said that the authorities will continue to distribute social assistance in a bid to ease the economic impacts of the upcoming large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in the province.
The Jakarta provincial government will reintroduce PSBB measures on September 14. The policy aims to decrease the covid-19 hospitalization rate in Indonesia's capital.
"The Jakarta provincial government and the Social Affairs Ministry will continue to deliver social assistance to affected families in Jakarta," the former education minister said during a virtual press conference here on Wednesday evening.
The Jakarta provincial government previously implemented PSBB for around two months from April to June. The local government then decided to ease the implementation of PSBB in early June.
"We will no longer implement transitional PSBB. We will return to PSBB," he said.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Indonesian Ministry of Health confirmed 3,307 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 203,342.
From Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries was up by 2,242 to 145,200. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths was up by 106 to 8,336.
