Govt to Evaluate Measures to Combat Covid-19 in 8 Provinces

Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has ordered Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to evaluate measures to combat covid-19 in eight provinces.
 
The provinces are Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, North Sumatra, South Sulawesi, South Kalimantan and Papua.
 
"President Jokowi has ordered the Covid-19 Mitigation and National Economic Recovery Committee Deputy Chairman Luhut Pandjaitan and the Covid-19 Task Force Head Doni Monardo to monitor and evaluate the measures," the Covid-19 Mitigation and National Economic Recovery Committee Chairman Airlangga Hartarto said here on Monday.

According to Minister Airlangga, the majority of covid-19 cases in Indonesia comes from the eight provinces. To tackle the spread of coronavirus in the eight provinces, the government plans to implement community-based intervensions.
 
"The president hopes that measures to combat covid-19 can be managed locally," the Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs said.
 
On Monday, the National Covid-19 Task Force announced 3,141 new covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of confirmed covid-19 cases in Indonesia to 221,523.
 
Based on data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the total number of confirmed covid-19 recoveries increased by 3,141 to 221,523 from Sunday noon to Monday noon. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed covid-19 deaths rose by 118 to 8,841 in the past 24 hours.
